COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS

To our After Dark Airbrush Tanning family,

 

In recent months each of us has gone through a moment of uncertainty due to the ongoing health crisis that has taken on the world. Today's challenges are immense. Some of us have lost jobs, lost businesses, have lost all income, or have run out of food to put on the table. Some are managing child care while working from home, worrying for loved ones, some of us are fighting on the front lines and others are mourning the loss of a family member or friend.

 

Although we are not sure what tomorrow's challenges may bring next, we are here to say:

We are with you.

 

As a small business, there is nothing more important to us than our staff, clients, community, and state. We are committed to rising up to support you, our dear clients along with our neighbors, fellow small businesses, and most of all, our beautiful state of New Jersey and beyond.

This is why although we will be closed until the non-essential business closures have been lifted, we are working diligently to ensure we are preparing safety measures for when we are able to re-open.

Below you will find our new safety protocols along with additional information on what we're doing to help our clients and community.

UPDATE: After Dark Airbrush Tanning will re-open on June 22nd, 2020.

SCHEDULING & APPOINTMENTS

  • Due to new disinfection protocols, time taken between appointments to sanitize all equipment, and the safety of our artists, we will be limiting the number of clients we take per day. We highly recommend that clients book their appointments in advance to ensure they can get a reservation they would prefer.

 

  • Our new (post-COVID) annual waivers will need to be filled out and submitted, at the minimum, 48 hours before your appointment. During the scheduling of your appointment, you will be sent an e-mail that contains a Google Form for you to fill out and submit. Clients who do not send back their waiver signed before 48  hours will have their appointment canceled automatically. No waivers or forms will be accepted in-person by your airbrush artist.

 

  • To avoid unnecessary contact, we’ve also changed our form of payment. The week of your scheduled airbrush tan, you will receive an invoice from our point of sale system with your appointment information, the total amount due and due date. Invoices are to be paid 48 hours (or earlier) before your scheduled airbrush tan, which is the listed due date. Failure to do so will result in an automatic cancellation from our scheduling system. No payment will be accepted on location during your appointment. We do not accept Venmo or Zelle.

 

  • Due to limiting our appointments for the time being to help lessen our airbrush technician's exposure, our cancellation policy has changed to ensure appointments being held are followed through. Again, invoices not paid prior to 48 hours before your appointment will be canceled automatically. Appointments cancelled before 48 hours will not be charged a fee. Appointments canceled within the 48-24 hour window prior to the appointment will only be charged a $45.00 cancellation fee. Appointments canceled after 24 hours prior to their appointment will be charged 50% of their appointment total. Appointments no-showed will be charged full price.

 

  • Masks and gloves will be worn prior to entry of the house, apartment, hotel room, or venue where the appointment will be taking place and as usual, worn throughout the entire appointment until your airbrush artist is safely back in their vehicle. New gloves and masks will be used for every appointment by your airbrush artist. We have secured reusable gloves and masks to provide to each of our staff members. No used gloves or masks will be entering a location without being thoroughly washed.

  • On arrival of our airbrush artists, please have the door open as our technicians have been strictly instructed not to touch any unfamiliar objects at your appointment location. This includes doors to enter and railings. Please keep this in mind when picking a location in your house to have your airbrush tan. Failure to do so will result in a cancellation of the appointment. We have also given our staff the responsibility of using their personal judgment to assess the safety of a location or client. After Dark has the right to cancel appointments at any time.

  • After Dark equipment including the airbrush kit and airbrush tents will be wiped down and disinfected in between every appointment. Tents, kits, and equipment will be thoroughly and fully disinfected every evening. Floor and hand towels will be disinfected and placed in tight ziplocked bags to avoid cross-contamination as well. These disinfection bags were created and will be filled specific to the client’s scheduled that day.

 

  • ​Clients are not to touch their airbrush artist or After Dark's equipment unless instructed to by their technician. We also ask as a precaution for our staff and our clients that all other family members, children, and pets are not in the room during your appointment or come into contact with our staff at any point. We will not be taking group airbrush tan appointments until September of 2020 unless they live in that household. To add someone to your appointment, contact us as soon as possible so that we can guarantee we have the supplies necessary to accommodate.

  • We are currently not scheduling appointments in New York City (NY) or Hudson County (NJ) at this moment. If you have any questions or would like a reccomendation, please feel free to contact us.

• Reviews

We are always looking for GLOWING reviews from our clients. Whether you were a one-time bride, or one of our favorite regulars, leaving a review is a great 'free' way of helping support us and so many others. When leaving a review, you're helping other people in your area locate us more easily. You can find us on Google, Yelp, Wedding Wire, the Knot and even Facebook!

• Booking Future Appointments

We know times are tough, just like you, we've had our own events postponed and canceled with no end of the tunnel in sight of when things will go back to normal. But if you have a date in mind, feel free to send it our way. We are currently still scheduling ALL future appointments. As time goes by, we are helping you re-schedule week by week and event by event.

• Send Photographs

Finally have some time since that hectic wedding week and honeymoon? We are constantly coming up with new promotions and advertisements. When you send us a photo or your wedding, event, or vacation, this helps us not only get located in your local area but gives us more promotional potential, and, it's FREE!

• Reposts

Reposting promotional media and tagging us in photos is another great way of getting the word out. We're proud to say that 92% of our clients are all from word of mouth- meaning you! When you repost a picture or tag us in one of your own you're helping us get more visibility. Another fantastic free way of helping us.

• Gift Cards and Packages

Birthday coming up? Bridal shower being postponed? Our virtual gift cards make fantastic surprise gifts for a loved one. And even better, no disinfecting involved. Simply visit our GIFT CARD tab and send that special someone a gift. Whether it's one tan or a package of 3, it's a great way to make someone feel good.

And most of all, staying home and safe - so we can all get back to normal soon!

HELPING OUR COMMUNITY

• Donations

On March 26th, After Dark donated all disposable masks and gloves to a local hospital in an effort to help frontline healthcare workers. We also push fellow beauty businesses to follow suit.

• Closed since March 16th

On March 16th After Dark began its closure prior to the non-essential business shut down. Although this was a difficult decision, we knew it was the right one. Nothing is more important to us than our staff and client's health and with After Dark being a unique and intimate business, we knew there was no way to better help than to stay home and social distance. Although we are still currently closed, we can not wait to get back on the road and back to doing what we love.

• Our Essential Worker Heros!

Once After Dark re-opens, we will be hosting a promotional discount for all essential workers. Simply show your badge, or another form of identification of your essential job and you'll receive the discount. It's our way of saying thank you. Thank you for doing your job and keeping all of us, non-essential workers safe. You are the true heroes and backbone of the community. Stay tuned!
